The Google Impact Challenge: Disabilities is a Google.org initiative aimed at making the world a more accessible and inclusive place for those living with disabilities. In honor of the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, we commemorated some of the key heroes of the Disability Rights Movement by installing their portraits across major stairs in Washington, D.C. Why stairs? Because in 1990, activists for the movement literally pulled themselves up the Capitol steps to demand action. The cherry on top: I got to meet a Kennedy.
